Rhonda Blakeney was born in Melbourne, Australia. Growing up Rhonda had hopes of working with children who were disadvantaged. After a number of years of nursing, Rhonda returned to school to study welfare, which resulted in gaining employment in a high-risk adolescent program. Rhonda’s desire to have a more grassroots approach with young people led her to become a foster carer.
Rhonda has continued to foster and support young people as they attempt to overcome the many barriers that stand in their way. Alongside fostering, Rhonda has worked as a family support worker, and also as an educator, facilitating training to adults who provide emergency relief to vulnerable people in the community.
After almost 18 years of fostering and witnessing both the struggles that young people are confronted with daily and the incredible achievements that have been made, Rhonda is hanging up her boots to fulfill her dream of becoming an author. While working on several other projects, a series of empowerment books have emerged.
The first six books in Rhonda's ‘A Little Book of Lovely’ series have been released in 2019. It’s Rhonda’s hope that these little gifts bring not only a smile to the receiver but also a feeling of strength and hope.
Subtitles of the series include –
A Message of Love from Dad
