5 ways to help your connection with Spirit

September 20, 2017

I've said this many times before, and I'll say it again. Everyone is connected with Spirit - everyone. You may not be aware of it, or know how you connect best, but regardless of whether some psychic gives you the whole "only some people are born with this gift" speech, know that we all came from Source, which means that we all maintain that connection. It's simply all about figuring out the how.

Here are five ways to help you connect with Spirit and practice the gift you already have.

1. Pay attention to your dreams

When we are asleep, we are in a state where we are more open to connecting with Spirit. We don't have the distractions of earthly life, and instead, access our subconscious, which means that it is much easier for us to connect on a level that is often difficult to when we are fully conscious and awake.

You've likely experienced dreams that seem so vivid and real, that you wake up wondering whether you'd really been there or not. Or, you may have dreamt of a loved one who has passed and woken up feeling as though they were really there. Our dream state is the most common way that we connect with Spirit, and while we don't always remember what we have dreamt of, it doesn't mean we haven't connected. A lot of the time, we will receive messages, healing, or even ancient wisdom in our dreams.

Try keeping a notepad and pen by your bed, and jotting down everything you remember when you wake; words, images, names, smells, feelings, and anything else you can recall. The more you do this, the more likely you are to connect more often.

2. Automatic Writing

This may sound like a form of spirit connection that is only reserved for highly experienced mediums, but I promise you, it's not. I've seen lots of "rules and lessons" around this, and to be honest, if you want to go ahead and learn how to do this from someone, go ahead. You don't need to, though. As with every form of spirit connection, you just need to trust that what you're getting is the real thing.

Take a pen and paper (or keyboard and screen), ask to connect with a loved one, guide, or whoever you please, and just write. Don't be tempted to edit the information you get. It may sometimes feel like you're just ''making it up', but the more you practice this, the more you'll realise that it can be a wonderful tool for connecting with spirit. I do most of my readings this way, and I haven't received any form of training. I just allow myself to connect and pass on the messages to my client as I've written them.

3. Meditate

Ahh, meditation. For many years I thought this meant you had to sit cross-legged and chant until you went into a trance, but it is oh-so much easier than that. Do you know how often you probably already meditate, and you don't even realise it?

For instance, when you're reading something and you have to go back and read it again once you realise you missed what you thought you'd read entirely. Or when you're doing something mindless like housework or a repetitive activity that you know like the back of your hand and you just 'zone out'. These are forms of meditation.

You could also try walking, exercising, or even give one of the many guided meditations available on YouTube a go. It's not some 'out there' practice at all. Like I said, you're likely already doing it, and just like when you're dreaming, meditation is an excellent way to connect with Spirit.

4. Reading photos

You know, when I started out doing mediumship readings for people, the first thing I did was get a whole heap of volunteers send photos of their loved ones in for me to practice connecting with. I didn't know at the time that I was able to do it, and I certainly didn't realise just how naturally it would come to me.

Very much the same way as I do with automatic writing, I just let the messages come to me naturally, and jot down anything that I get; images, symbols, feelings, names, numbers, and so forth. It didn't take very long before I understood just how easy this was, and the more validation I received from the people who had sent their photos in, the clearer the connection became. I will say it again. Everyone can do this.

5. Trust

The most important factor in spirit connection is trust. You absolutely must trust the messages you're receiving, and take them as they come- no matter how strange they may seem at first.

A very common hindrance to connecting with spirit is thinking that it's just your imagination, or that you've somehow made it all up in your mind, based on what you've experienced in your own life. But, here's the thing. Spirit will often show you snippets of something or someone that you are familiar with in order to get the message across, because they know that this is something you can interpret. For example, my grandfather often comes through to help me make sense of messages I'm passing on, like if a loved one I'm connecting with for a client loved to do crosswords, he will show me a memory of when he used to do them.

I will talk more about spirit connection in some of my upcoming articles, but for now, I want to leave you with a reminder to always, always remember that we are equally gifted. I am no more experienced or worthy of connecting with spirit than you.

You simply need to trust that you - just like everyone else - has a different way of connecting; some clearer than others. But ultimately, we are very much all connected, in one way or another.

Love, light and blessings,

Christie ♥️
