As always, all of what I’m about to say is said with the utmost of love, respect and honesty. You may not like some of it, however if you know me or have ever had a reading from me, you already know I don’t sugarcoat stuff and only ever say something if I wholeheartedly mean it and believe it myself.
As New Years Eve approaches, we are more than likely going to be flooded with with tons of advice, rituals, predictions, and the like - all of which will promise to have you living your new year the way you’ve always wanted to. This is great for some lighthearted direction, but let’s be honest, it takes a bit more than a horoscope or something to do with the moon to possibly give us all what we need or want for the year ahead, doesn’t it? Don’t get me wrong - all of this can definitely be helpful, but please, please don’t just rely on this stuff going into 2018 (or any day).
Sadly, it’s no surprise that many of us will soak this shit up like no tomorrow, because it’s so much easier to just read something that tells us all our dreams will come true, take it as gospel, and think we can just sit back and wait for the magic to happen once the clock ticks over. If you choose to do this, by all means go for it, but it’s highly likely you’ll be doing the very same thing at the end of next year - sitting back and waiting for happiness to come to you - when all along, you could be actually doing something to make it happen.
Just like most of us (and I recall delivering a similar message last year), we’ve all had our challenges throughout 2017 - some more painful than others - and it’s very easy to fall into the habit of blaming the year. Of course, we can all wish for a better year ahead, and being motivated to strive for a happier future is always a good thing. But, relying solely on the days on the calendar is simply not enough. There is no magical New Year Fairy who’s going to come along and grant you all your wishes on January 1st. You are the one who needs to make this shit happen. You.
So, here’s some tough love for the days leading up to New Year’s Eve, and the reason I’m sharing this is because I also plan on taking my own advice. If you really want 2018 (and every other year) to be better, happier, healthier, more successful...then keep reading.
Know what you want. There’s no use in just saying you want to be happier, or that you want your year to be better than the last. What does that even mean? Have you asked yourself what it is that makes you happy? What do you need in your life to bring you peace? What will make 2018 better? Be specific. You wouldn’t expect a waiter to know what you want to order just by looking at them, would you? Not only that, but you can’t even begin to ask for what you want if you don’t even know yourself.
What are you going to do to make your life better? It all boils down to you. Yes, you. If it means you need to make massive changes in your life, make them. If you’re scared, it’s time to face your fears. Sure, you can lean on loved ones, professionals, or even the planets and the moon to help guide and support you, but unless you are willing to do the hard work, nothing will change, and you know this is the truth.
If you do one thing this New Year’s Eve, let it be this. Let go of your belief that some magical fairy is going to come and make each year better than the next, and take ownership of your life journey.
You are in control of your own happiness.
You make the decision whether to live a fulfilling life or not.
You are the one who makes choices that will either have you repeating the same old, same old, or that will propel you towards the life you’ve always deserved.
You are real.
And, you are worth the effort.
Be your own damn New Year Fairy.
Now, get to it. What one change are you going to make now to make your future so much better than ever before?
