Sonia graduated from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University) with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design in 1992 and is now running her own freelance business (Sonia Daru Design) after a long stint working in education as a graphic/multimedia designer. Sonia also works part time at a speech pathology clinic producing all of the marketing materials required for the business. Apart from these ongoing freelance projects, Sonia works closely with her dear friend, writer Raul Estevez. Having already produced the illustrations and book design for "My Little Angels Talk To Me" and the "Guiding Star of Life Inspirational Cards," her current project is to produce illustrations for Raul's children's book titled "Why do doggies sniff their tails when they meet?"
Sonia takes a great deal of pride in working as a visual communicator and really enjoys working closely with her clients to give them intelligent and meaningful visual solutions. Apart from thoroughly enjoying the many and varied graphic design projects that come her way, Sonia is keenly interested in illustration, photography (in particular capturing her dancing daughter) and is working towards creating home decor utilising her illustration and design skills. For relaxation, Sonia enjoys creating whimsical imagery using a combination of crochet, fabric and digital illustration.
